Waffle-knit breathes the best and suits all-day wear through a Punjab winter, while flannel (brushed cotton) sits between them and is the gentlest on skin, which is why it owns nightwear. Most winters want waffle or fleece by day and flannel for sleep.

Wash cotton, modal and flannel cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, and never use bleach on any of them. Dry in shade or indoors, and dry knits flat so they keep their shape. Cotton takes a medium iron, modal a low one, and flannel is better not ironed at all.
